The application window for the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS) opens on 1 October and closes on 30 November.

For eligible UK manufacturers, BICS can reduce future electricity costs by providing exemptions from several policy-related charges, including:

• Renewables Obligation (RO)
• Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs)
• Capacity Market (CM) charges

Successful applicants benefit from lower electricity costs from April 2027 onwards, helping improve competitiveness and reduce long-term operating costs.

Industrial manufacturers may be eligible if they:

• Operate within a qualifying industrial sector
• Are registered with Companies House
• Consume more than 33,000kWh of grid electricity per year at a site
