Noveus Energy significantly reduces power costs for VP Packaging’s factory in Rotherham.

Our Client

VP Group are leading European manufacturers of padded envelopes, bubble bags and bubble wrap. The group celebrated their 125th anniversary in 2021 and they celebrated the 40th anniversary of the VP Packaging business in the UK.

Our Approach

In 2025 Noveus Energy ran a competitive tender which secured favourable prices for VP Packaging.  Since then we have been working with VP Packaging’s management team to secure three significant cost savings/cost avoidances:

  1. VP Packaging were able to consolidate their manufacturing into one site and avoid having to pay for a power capacity upgrade.
  2. Noveus Energy identified the site’s local network charges were incorrect.
  3. Noveus Energy and VP Packaging successfully applied for the Government’s Energy Intensive Industry (EII) scheme.

The Results

  • Noveus Energy advised VP Packaging not to pay £75,000 for the upgrade to their power capacity through checking the sites maximum demand each month and advising VP Packaging how to keep their maximum demand below the permitted capacity.
  • To correct the error in the network charges, Noveus Energy made an application to the local network and the energy supplier. Network charge errors are a small fraction of customer’s bill but these errors can be reclaimed for up to six years. After chasing each party, we eventually secured a back-dated credit of £18,000. In addition we secured a reduction in costs going forward.
  • Through the successful application to the Energy Intensive Industry (EII) scheme we obtained a credit of £13,000 from the energy supplier, moreover, we substantially reduced the energy rates going forward.
